Precipitation and temperature extremes and association with large-scale climate indices: An observational evidence over India

Climate change exposes more frequent natural hazards and physical vulnerabilities to the built environments. Extreme precipitation temperature events will have a significant impact on both environment human society. However, it is unclear whether extremes increase across scales their links with large-scale climate indices. This study investigates relationship between extremes, as recommended by Expert Team Change Detection Indices (ETCCDI), large scale climatological phenomenon indices (Indian Summer Monsoon Index (ISMI), Arctic Oscillation (AO), North Atlantic (NAO)), using India case study. Our findings show that extreme warm were primarily negatively related ISMI positively cold According Pearson's correlation coefficients Wavelet Transform Coherence (WTC), The had positive relationship, AO. Furthermore, from 1951 2018, experienced an in over western, central, peninsular India, while increased northwest India. Precipitation of than one day, five days, very wet extremely days except Indo-Gangetic plains, heavy consecutive dry decreased.
